"He called their names Adam on the day they were created." Genesis 5:2
The Biblical term for people, adam, has a dual origin. It comes from the word adamah (earth) - indicating
that man was fashioned out of dust, and also from the word adameh, likeness, indicating that we are capable of being
like Yahveh Elohim.
We are called to exercise our potential for spirituality, and represent the Almighty by behaving according
to His Divine attributes. When we observe holy men in their daily lives, how they show love to others, easily forgive when
they are offended and see only the good in everything, we can begin to have a true concept of Yahveh. Although He
is completely beyond comprehension, we know His attributes. By showing kindness and compassion, we make others aware
of what Godliness really is.
